Hi y'all!!!  Mr Neurologst suggested I read "My Stroke of Insight" by Jill  BolteTaylor, Ph D.
She is a Harvard trained brain scientist,  a neuroanatomist
This book is how she suffers a horrible stroke, brain damaged, and she recovers.  It is pretty powerful.   Dr. W was explaining to me about the damage MS has caused in my brain (numerous lesions) and how sometimes, the other side of brain takes over!  I asked him if he could re-wire my brain, he laughed.  This book is incredible, and gives some hope to my damaged brain  Cheers!

My mum LOVES Jill Bolte Taylor. She is always sending me clips.  There are  so many studies that suggest we can rewire our brains.

I have been told that we do not use all of our brain, and when some portion of it is damaged other used parts can be trained.  However when this happens you become some what overloaded until training is completed.  This causes you to be tried, and to make some silly mistakes (words backs) stops in mid-thinking. But keep trying it becomes easier, but I have found that I still become very tired.

MS is not new to me as my mother had this also.  However I do not seem to following in her foot prints.  I have banding and find that it makes me very exhausted.  This is also very painful.  Have any of you found how to live with this.  I was told to go to bed until it released but I seem to have this frequently.  I have been give some pain killer to cope.  I do not like the inactivity as I am used to walking 1 - 3 miles a day.  I now seem to be weaker in my legs since this has been happening.  I also have to urinate frequently (this is new) and I have pressure in my bladder like I am always  having to visit the washroom.  How do you handle the exhaustion and pain.  Maybe it is the pain that causes this I do not know.  I know Mom was always pushing herself.

Hi Diezy - reading through and saw your comment about banding - I had it and it comes back - I have been taking Gabapentin - which does make you sleepy - but I've found - if I just really relax - with pill - it goes away after about a week

Hi Barbara

I do not know if you will see two reply to your comment.  My computer hit a glick and do not know if the other reply went through.  I will be see a specialist in July and will ask about Gabapentin.  Do you take it all the time or just when you have the banding?  I find bending over for any long period of time make me very short of breath and cause the banding. lol I now try to squat which has its troubles also.  Getting up from a squat is not a simple task anymore.  Can not raise straight up from squat it is quite a preformance but can still eventually get up (now look to have something that I can pull myself up with) Life goes on and I takes everything with a smile and say I can still do it even if it take more time and effort and looks funny oh well laugh at and with myself cheer myself on andgive myself a big thumbs up when I do it. Try not to let banding get my  down but sometimes it is the worst.  Thanks again
